Watch as Adrian Segecic scores his first Portsmouth goal v Woking

Portsmouth star Adrian Segecic made his debut against Woking and scored his first goal.

The new signing was set up by fellow Australian Thomas Waddingham before firing into the bottom corner.

It was the main highlight of the match which Portsmouth won 2-0.

Paddy Lane fired in Portsmouth’s other goal after good work by Regan Poole to put him through.

All eyes on Segecic as he makes Portsmouth debut

Segecic was handed his Portsmouth debut in a reasonably strong Portsmouth starting XI that also featured Josh Murphy, Waddingham and Marlon Pack.

He was only given the first 45 minutes, as John Mousinho made 11 changes at half-time.

Still, all the talk among fans seems to be about Segecic’s goal and Waddingham’s assist.

The clever flick from the striker deceived Woking’s back four and made Segecic’s job much easier.

There was still plenty to do, but Pompey’s new signing found the bottom corner with no hesitation.

If players aren’t at their sharpest in pre-season, it will be exciting to see what’s to come from Segecic this season.

A good workout for John Mousinho’s men

There’s only so much information you can get from a pre-season friendly against a non-league team, but Mousinho will be happy with the performance nonetheless.

Segecic played in the number 10 role just behind Waddingham and the chemistry between these two is something worth looking out for.

Waddingham also planted a header into the net early in the first half, but it was disallowed for offside. Segecic could have added to his tally but was twice denied by good saves.

Triallist Nathan Ferguson put in a good shift in the first half, while another triallist replaced Ben Killip in goal for the second half and kept a clean sheet.

In all honesty though, it was one-way traffic for Pompey throughout most of the game. Still, it was a good workout for Mousinho’s men and no-one pulled up with an injury.

Portsmouth face another pre-season friendly on Wednesday (16 July) away at Farnborough. Mousinho will no doubt be hoping for a similar performance, and perhaps we’ll see a debut for John Swift, who was confirmed as Portsmouth’s newest recruit today.
