Portsmouth to ‘seal Mark Kosznovszky deal in days’ after £1.3m breakthrough

Mark Kosznovszky looks to be closing in on a move to Portsmouth.

John Mousinho is searching for a Freddie Potts replacement, after the loan star returned to West Ham at the end of the season.

It looks like the ex-Burton Albion man has found that, with the MTK Budapest star, who notched three goals and three assists last season.

The 23-year-old is the Fratton Park outfit’s top target, and it appears that a move is on the cards after the latest update from Hungary.

Portsmouth set to sign Kosznovszky as £1.5m deal agreed

Portsmouth faced competition for Kosznovszky’s signature, but it seems like they have won the battle for his services.

A report from CzakFoci (16 July) claims that Pompey have made a breakthrough over a £1.3million fee with the Hungarians.

It states that they are negotiating the final details, and the transfer could be official in the coming days.

Portsmouth finally give to MTK demands

Kosznovszky always seemed destined to move to England, as he previously admitted that he wanted to play in the country.

It was just a matter of whether Pompey could meet the Budapest outfit’s demands of a seven-figure sum or not, with doubts surrounding that at first.

It could be a gamble for Mousinho and Co., spending such a sum on an unknown quantity, especially as they are not blessed with a huge budget.

A fee of over £1million is risky, even more so when the player does not have experience in English football before, but that hasn’t stopped previous success stories at Fratton Park.

It could prove to be a masterstroke if he starts brightly, though, and supporters will hope that Kosznovszky and Adrian Segecic can hit the ground running in the Championship.

It is good to see that the Eisners are willing to back Mousinho in the transfer market as he has earned that trust, given how he has outperformed expectations in recent years.

They will hope to get him in quickly, so he can train with his new teammates and adapt to the new style of football that he will be playing.

However, it could easily prove to be a coup for the PO4 outfit if he performs to the level that Mousinho will expect.

John Swift is done, and Kosznovszky will be next.
