Portsmouth new home kit: ‘Bubble may have burst’ after recent teaser

Portsmouth supporters are beginning to speculate what their new home shirt will look like.

It may sound daft as it doesn’t win the team any more points like the signing of Adrian Segecic could, but the reveal of a new kit is one of the most exciting announcements they can make.

For Pompey supporters, this is no different, with speculation regarding the new home shirt beginning to ramp up on social media.

The Blues’ new kit is set to be revealed on Friday (18 July) at 8 am, but it may leave some supporters rather disappointed.

Pompey kit rumour dismissed

If the Blues can secure a potential deal for Danny Ings, then any disappointment surrounding the home shirt is surely to be a distant memory.

A Pompey supporter took their excitement to social media after a new banner outside Fratton Park was speculated to mirror what the new top could potentially look like.

This rumour, however, was quickly squashed by the host of Pompey Live, Jake Smith, on X (17 July).

Smith claims that the new banner may simply be a nod to a classic Portsmouth shirt as opposed to leaking the design of the new one.

“Fratton Park used to have pictures and paintings of former players in old kits with the UoP sponsor instead of the original sponsor to help promote them,” he explained.

He added: “Sorry to be a bubble burster.”

Whether Smith’s theory is correct or not remains to be seen, but fans in PO4 won’t have to wait long to get their hands on the kit John Mousinho’s side will be donning next season.

Pompey’s squad beginning to take shape

No matter what the new shirt looks like, it will become instantly iconic on the south coast if Mousinho’s men can have a successful season in it.

Following the Blues’ pre-season game against Woking, Mousinho could be set to hand trialist, Alfie Whiteman, a contract at Fratton Park after the goalkeeper was released by Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the summer.

Despite the recent arrival of John Swift on a free transfer, midfield remains a priority for Mousinho in the transfer market.

MTK Budapest’s Mark Kosznovszky is a target for Pompey; however, they are facing late competition from Blackburn Rovers, who are looking to poach the midfielder who was on the verge of signing on the south coast.
