Portsmouth fans outraged by ‘terrible’ Fratton Park announcement – ‘Sigh’

Portsmouth have had a tricky summer as they look to continue their progression up the English pyramid

Pompey go into the new season with big expectations, as the Fratton Park faithful hope to see another successful season

However, John Mousinho has only been able to bring in two new faces so far, with John Swift becoming Portsmouth’s latest addition

Multiple Championship clubs have been swooping in for Portsmouth’s targets, with Norwich City chasing Pelle Mattsson.

Now, Portsmouth’s recent announcement has done little to silence critics.

Portsmouth fans slam ‘generic’ home shirt reveal

Portsmouth have revealed their home kit for the 2025/26 Championship campaign after weeks of speculation.

Anticipation for the reveal of Portsmouth’s home shirt was high going into Friday.

There were rumours that Pompey were set to release a retro kit design for the 2025/26 campaign, but these claims were quickly shot down.

Now, Portsmouth ended speculation on Friday (18 July) with the reveal of their new home kit, but many fans were not keen on the design, claiming the jersey has no character.

As a result, many supporters are now calling for Nike to go after releasing the “terrible” kit design.

Portsmouth need to move on from Nike

Portsmouth fans are not wrong when they argue that the kit design is generic and bland.

Multiple reversions of the same jersey will be available across the globe in different colours, for multiple teams.

This makes it hard for the shirt to stand out, and it will likely be quickly forgotten unless it is part of a memorable campaign.

If Portsmouth want to increase their commercial sales, they must look to move on from Nike and look for a kit designer that will make more memorable jerseys.

By doing this, more supporters will likely buy the shirt, which will help bring in more money for the South Coast club.

Hopefully, Portsmouth will consider making this move, and finally put an end to the awful generic kits Nike continue to release at Fratton Park.
