Adrian Segecic ‘could get Australia debut already’ after Portsmouth move
Adrian Segecic looks to be making a great early impression at Portsmouth ahead of the new Championship campaign.
The Australian has already found the back of the net in pre-season, with a precise finish in Pompey’s 2-0 win over Woking.
Segecic was set up by his countryman, Thomas Waddingham, with the striker cleverly flicking the ball to his fellow attacker, who made no mistakes when in front of goal.
Waddingham is among those in the Blues’ squad with one of the biggest points to prove in pre-season to John Mousinho, as the 20-year-old looks to stay injury-free and force his way into the starting XI.

Segecic tipped for international call-up after Pompey move
For a long time, Segecic was the lone arrival at Fratton Park in the summer; however, John Swift was also recently announced as a new addition to Mousinho’s squad.
Pompey are also on the verge of signing midfielder Mark Kosznovszky from MTK Budapest for a reported fee of £1.3million.
With Mousinho’s squad seemingly going from strength to strength, this will only help Segecic settle and play his best football during his stay on the south coast.
According to Marco Monteverde via ALeagueHQ (18 July), Segecic could now be in line to make his international debut in The Socceroos’ games against New Zealand.
The ‘Soccer Ashes’ between the two countries is set to take place in September and will help in both teams’ preparations for the 2026 World Cup in North America.
Pompey’s recruitment seemingly a roaring success already
With the likes of Nicolas Schmid recently receiving his first international call-up for Austria, players from overseas are thriving at Fratton Park.
Pompey players getting international call-ups is only good news for Mousinho and Co, with it likely to add more value to their price tag as well as giving them valuable experience.
If Segecic can also claim his first international cap whilst at the Blues, then that is a good reflection of Portsmouth as a club and how they develop players.
They have already proven to be able to provide a platform for young players like Freddie Potts to thrive on loan on the south coast, which will help Pompey secure more talented youngsters from Premier League outfits.
But in addition to this, the club can use Schmid and potentially Segecic as case studies when looking to attract new signings in the hope of getting a call-up from their respective national teams.
