Mousinho deserves praise as midfielder turns down offers to join Portsmouth
Portsmouth have strengthened in several areas in the transfer window, with some exciting additions to the team.
Pompey endured a successful return to the Championship and will hope to push on higher up the table next season, after years of struggle in the lower leagues.
John Mousinho is the man responsible for Portsmouth’s revival, helping them earn promotion from League One and keeping them comfortably in the second tier.
One of his new signings has now praised the manager, and all signs are looking positive ahead of the new season.

Adrian Segecic praises Mousinho
Portsmouth signed Adrian Segecic from Sydney FC, in a move which can be considered a huge coup.
They have Mousinho to thank for the signing, as the winger has now admitted that the Pompey manager played a deciding role in his future.
Speaking via The News (31 July), Segecic revealed that he had plenty of offers this summer, but chose to join Portsmouth after speaking to Mousinho.
Player | Age | Appearances | Goals |
Segecic | 21 | 46 | 14 |
“I just think the stature of Portsmouth was everything about why I decided to come here, but there was obviously a lot about John (Mousinho), too,” he stated.
“I’ve spoken previously about the fact that I got goosebumps when he spoke about his plans for me, and what he thinks I can achieve.
“That’s one of the big reasons I decided to come, too, it was to help the team, make a big impact and to take the club to another level.”
It is reported that Segecic turned down around 20 clubs, including Austrian giants Rapid Vienna, to join Portsmouth, and this further highlights why Mousinho deserves enormous credit.

Portsmouth have to keep Mousinho at all costs
Mousinho has been linked with an exit as several clubs have taken note of his good work at Pompey, but they have managed to keep him at the club.
Portsmouth may still be in League One if not for Mousinho, and players are now taking note, with the 39-year-old attracting a higher level of talent to Fratton Park.
It is clear that, for the next year at the very minimum, Portsmouth must do all they can to keep Mousinho at the club, and back him in signing the targets he wants to bring in.
Portsmouth will hope to progress up the Championship next season, but if Mousinho were to depart, they would likely be looking over their shoulders at the relegation battle.
