Myles Peart-Harris sends message as Portsmouth complete new signing

Portsmouth have been busy in the transfer market this summer, but they’re still not finished signing players.

The South Coast club signed another midfielder on Thursday, further strengthening their squad before the new season kicks off on 9 August.

As he continues to build his squad for the new campaign, John Mousinho must feel quietly confident of improving on last season’s 16th-place finish in the Championship.

Brentford’s Myles Peart-Harris reacts to deal

Pompey announced the signing of Florian Bianchini on a season-long loan from Swansea City.

The 24-year-old Frenchman plays on the right wing. He made 36 appearances in the Championship for Swansea last season, although he only started eight games.

Bianchini can play on either wing and can also be used as a striker. His versatility could prove useful for Portsmouth as the season goes on.

Bianchini announced the move on his personal Instagram, stating that he was “very happy” to represent Pompey for the season.

Dozens of well-wishers commented on the photo of Bianchini posing in Portsmouth’s new away kit, including former Swansea teammate Myles Peart-Harris, who said: “Let’s go”.

Portsmouth could do with a couple more attackers in their squad

The addition of Bianchini will give Mousinho more options as he prepares for a new season in the Championship, although Portsmouth still look short of wingers.

They have just sold Paddy Lane to Reading, while Matt Ritchie is expected to leave the club in due course.

If Portsmouth were to lose Josh Murphy or Callum Lang for any reason, Bianchini looks set to be the first reserve.

That’s regardless of how well he settles in at Pompey, as there are seemingly no other natural wingers in the squad.

Lang is arguably better in the centre, but he looks set to do a job on the right wing. Adrian Segecic and Terry Devlin could also play on the right if asked, but that’s not their natural position.

There’s seemingly no one, other than Bianchini, who could easily slot in to replace Josh Murphy on the left.

So, it wouldn’t be surprising if Mousinho brings in another winger before the season begins.

If this winger can also play up front, as Bianchini can, that would also be handy. Colby Bishop and Thomas Waddingham are currently the only out-and-out strikers in Mousinho’s squad.
