How much Reading paid Portsmouth for Paddy Lane transfer
Paddy Lane recently joined Reading from Portsmouth.
The 24-year-old signed for the Hampshire outfit in January 2023 from Fleetwood Town and was critical in their return to the Championship.
However, Lane struggled at Fratton Park in recent months, and his recent performance against Havant and Waterlooville on 29 July highlighted the need for a quality winger in PO4.
John Mousinho paid tribute to the now-Reading forward after his departure was confirmed, and the potential figures of the deal have been disclosed.

Portsmouth may have sold Lane for around £250,000
Portsmouth wanted to get back what they paid to sell Lane, according to Andrew Moon.
The BBC South journalist reported that Pompey paid around £250,000 for the Northern Ireland international’s move to Fratton Park in 2023.
While Moon isn’t sure, he believes the Blues may have sold him for around a quarter of a million as he signed a three-year deal at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
Speaking on Who Needs Mourinho? on BBC Sounds (4 August), the journalist said: “Pompey paid around a quarter of a million. I think they were looking to get that back if he went. I don’t know for certain, but I would think that’s the vicinity.”

Who will replace Lane at Portsmouth?
Portsmouth signed Adrian Segecic from Sydney FC this summer to bolster their attack, and he has already shown glimpses of his talent under Mousinho.
While the Australian youngster is capable of playing on the right wing, the English manager has used him in a more central role during pre-season.
Pompey could cash in on Matt Ritchie before the end of August, leaving them with a lack of options on the right wing.
- Lane did not play again for Portsmouth last season after picking up an injury in January.
- The 24-year-old struggled in the Championship, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
- Reading may be able to bring the best out of the Northern Irishman in League One.
Callum Lang seems to be going nowhere from Portsmouth despite his contract expiring next year, and the 26-year-old could potentially be Mousinho’s preferred option on the right side of attack.
Florian Biancini has also arrived on loan from Swansea to bolster the Hampshire outfit’s forward line, with Harvey Blair also at the English manager’s disposal.
While a direct replacement for Lane may not be needed at Fratton Park, it would make sense to provide Josh Murphy with some cover ahead of next season.
