‘What Thomas Frank and Ange Postecoglou have said about imminent Portsmouth signing’

Portsmouth have seen their transfer window burst into life in recent weeks.

Adrian Segecic had stood as the South Coast outfit’s only summer addition for quite some time, but they have since moved quickly to bolster their squad in a number of key areas.

Florian Bianchini recently became the fifth arrival of the summer at Portsmouth, and he has already caught the eye in his debut cameo against PEC Zwolle last weekend.

John Mousinho will surely be pleased with where his squad is now at, but it looks like he could still be about to get another few faces through the door before the transfer deadline.

Frank and Postecoglou on Yang Min-hyeok as Portsmouth agree deal

Portsmouth are reportedly going to have a deal completed to sign Tottenham youngster Yang Min-hyeok on loan within the next 24 hours.

The winger spent a chunk of last season in the Championship with QPR, but it now looks as though his next loan stint is destined to be at Fratton Park, with the two clubs having now agreed a deal.

Yang has only been in England since January, but he has already made a big impression in North London, with both Thomas Frank and Ange Postecoglou passing comment on his future.

Spurs’ new boss recently made a comment on the 19-year-old during his side’s pre-season tour of Asia. The Dane told South Korea’s Maeil Business Newspaper (2 August) that he has high hopes for Yang over the next few years.

“The potential is good,” Tottenham’s chief said. It will take a lot of effort for him to grow further. However, I have high expectations.”

Former Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou also expressed the need for patience with the starlet.

“He is still very young and has come in from the other side of the world,” the Australian said after Yang’s arrival at Tottenham (3 January).

“The level of competition there is nowhere near what he will face here. We just have to give him time to adapt.”

Yang could be a good fit for Pompey

Portsmouth’s interest in Yang has developed quickly in recent days, and he could be a good fit for them for next season.

Mousinho’s side already have a decent amount of quality on the flanks, which should ease some of the pressure on their new star.

The South Korean has featured occasionally for Spurs in pre-season, and it is clear that Frank has earmarked him for big things further down the line.

Portsmouth are a club who will have similar aspirations to QPR in the second tier, and that should make it relatively easy for Yang to acclimatise to both life at Fratton Park, and the expectations that Mousinho will have for him.

The Pompey faithful may need to be patient with the youngster, but he could be a real surprise package in the Championship if he can get off to a good start in a blue shirt.
