South Korean media reacts with Portsmouth medical underway for Yang Min-hyeok transfer
Yang Min-hyeok looks destined to become Portsmouth’s latest signings as the winger closes in on a loan move from Tottenham.
The 19-year-old only joined Spurs last year before he was immediately sent out on loan to QPR for the latter half of the 2024/25 campaign.
Now, Portsmouth are looking to take Yang on loan, ready for the new Championship season.
The deal is reportedly set to be completed on Thursday, with the South Korean international currently undergoing a medical.

Yang compared to Harry Kane in South Korea ahead of Portsmouth move
Before his move to Tottenham, Yang made a name for himself at Gangwon FC in South Korea.
The winger netted 12 times and picked up six assists in 28 games, which eventually led to his move to England.
Now a South Korean international, his home country have taken interest in his career path and development in the UK.
As Yang’s move to Portsmouth unfolds, many outlets have been quick to comment on the move.
- Yang became a sensation in South Korea playing for Gangwon FC
- The youngster swept numerous awards, including the Young Player of the Month, Player of the Month and Best XI
- The winger has since moved to Spurs, but is yet to make an appearance
Tisnow (7 August) believes that the move will serve as a “crucial stepping stone” in helping the winger adapt to European football.
The 19-year-old is then compared to Harry Kane, given the England international also went on numerous loan spells to the Championship before his breakthrough.
Trust News (7 August) are hopeful that Yang can restore the “Korean Pride” in the Premier League after Son Heung-Min’s departure from Tottenham.
While the winger is said to have had “difficulties” adapting to England, his contribution in helping QPR escape relegation last season did not go unnoticed, and there is a hope he can develop further at Portsmouth.

John Mousinho needs to slowly integrate Yang into Pompey’s team
It would be foolish of John Mousinho to immediately start Yang as soon as the signing is complete.
Instead, the manager should look to slowly integrate the youngster, with appearances off the bench ideal.
The 19-year-old has plenty of potential, but it is clear he still needs to adapt to the English game.
Hopefully, the Carabao Cup tie against Reading will present Mousinho with an opportunity to test the winger in a less pressured environment.
