Pompey fans leave stadium chanting ‘we’re going to win the league’

Earlier in the week, John Mousinho had insisted that Portsmouth’s goal was to get to 50 points as quickly as possible, and only then focus on achieving more.

Many Pompey fans travelling to Oxford decided to ignore that conservative goal, as loud chants of ‘We’re going to win the league’ were heard after the full-time whistle.

Portsmouth sat fourth in the Championship table after all the 15:00 kick-offs had finished.

Mousinho lifts the lid on Josh Murphy absence

Josh Murphy was mysteriously absent from the squad for this game.

There had been no prior news about an injury, leading fans to speculate the worst about why he might not be playing.

In his post-match interview, Mousinho revealed that Murphy was struggling with a slight hamstring problem suffered in the friendly against PEC Zwolle.

The Pompey boss predicted that the winger would be back on the pitch within a week or two.
