Portsmouth-linked ace sends message to Adrian Segecic after win vs Oxford United

Adrian Segecic has proved to be an inspired signing for Portsmouth so far.

Segecic emerged as a star in pre-season for John Mousinho, and he did not disappoint on his Championship debut against Oxford United (9 August).

The Australian ace notched the only goal of the contest to secure a 1-0 win for his side after Colby Bishop had been denied by Jamie Cumming.

Another Aussie could join the 21-year-old at Fratton Park before the transfer window slams shut.

Portsmouth linked Robertson sends Segecic message after Oxford scenes

Segecic stunned on his first competitive start for Portsmouth, and the Pompey fans will be expecting big things going forward.

He took to Instagram after the victory (9 August) to share his feelings after such a fantastic start to his career on the South Coast, saying: “What a start. Debut. 3 points. Goal.”

Alexander Robertson has been linked with a return to Portsmouth, and he replied saying: “What a player.”

Robertson would be a brilliant addition for Portsmouth

Robertson starred for the PO4 outfit on loan in the 2023–2024 season, and Cardiff’s relegation to League One puts them in a great position to re-sign him.

He had an influence on Segecic’s decision to join Pompey, and the new Aussie shared an insight into Robertson’s plans to return.

Speaking on BBC Sounds (7 July), Segecic said:  “I think he would love to (return), but we will see what happens with him.”

Mousinho has already proven his ability to make Australian imports shine at Pompey, and he could do that again with Robertson.

The midfielder already has a connection with the supporters, and it is clear that he would be open to a move.

It is a no-brainer for all involved, the Blues are clearly an attractive proposition after staying in the second tier last season, and they can continue to build a solid side by adding a player that they already know well.

There is a fear that they could be priced out of a move, but surely they are the best destination for the Bluebirds ace, because he is already familiar with the surroundings and would not have to adapt.

His message to Segecic will only spark more speculation about the potential return, whether it happens though, remains to be seen.
