‘Horrendous’ – Portsmouth fans wince in disbelief at latest announcement

Portsmouth have so many reasons to be optimistic about the new season.

They’ve signed six promising new first-team stars. Their new signing Adrian Segecic looks like a potential world-beater, with a goal and an assist in his first two games.

Portsmouth beat Oxford 1-0 on Saturday, equalling last season’s record for clean sheets at home already.

Plus, John Mousinho has pledged to sign more players before the transfer window closes.

Still, the latest announcement from the club has left many supporters wincing in horror.

New third kit described as ‘hideous’ by Portsmouth fans

Portsmouth released their 2025-26 third kit today, but its design hasn’t gone down well with supporters on social media.

The home shirt is a fluorescent yellow with black patterned stripes at the top and bottom. The Nike-designed shirt is available to buy for £59.95 from the club shop or online. It will be paired with matching yellow shorts (£25) and yellow socks (£18).

Supporters were particularly disgusted with the black stripes, with one person on X asking: “Did a car run over it or something?”

Other fans on X described the shirt as “howling”, “honking,” ,”hideous” and “horrendous.”

Portsmouth look in good shape to improve away form this season

Portsmouth’s away form proved more worrying to fans than any of their kits last season.

The PO4 side only managed three wins on the road all season. They had their second-worst away record of all Championship teams, with only relegated Plymouth Argyle picking up fewer points on their travels.

However, there are already signs of Portsmouth’s away record improving in this campaign.

The Blues showed a sturdiness against Oxford that was nowhere to be found during several away games last season.

In the final minutes of the game, the U’s bombarded Pompey’s penalty area with:

It didn’t matter. Regan Poole and Conor Shaughnessy managed to get their head on everything in that game.

Those two didn’t manage to play one game together last season due to their respective injury problems. If both of them can remain fit, Portsmouth can expect to pick up a lot more points away from Fratton Park.
