Marlon Pack injury timeline revealed – Here’s every game Portsmouth star will miss

Marlon Pack will miss the early stages of Portsmouth’s season after undergoing surgery.

The 34-year-old has been a key member of the squad at Fratton Park in the rise up to the Championship before also avoiding relegation.

This was showcased by Pack’s feature in the League One Team of the Season back in 2024 as John Mousinho’s side won the title and promotion.

It appears that the versatile Englishman will remain in PO4 beyond the summer window, despite speculation surrounding Pack’s future at Portsmouth.

With that being said, a recent injury setback has resulted in surgery, and he will now miss a number of clashes as he continues his rehabilitation.

Pack to miss first Southampton clash of the season

The Pompey skipper had a scan for a knee injury earlier in the week before ultimately undergoing surgery to correct the issue.

Since then, Mousinho has spoken out on Pack to confirm the success of this procedure and that the skipper will be absent for the next six weeks.

Speaking ahead of Portsmouth’s clash against Norwich City, he said: “Marlon’s great, he’s been in today. He’s not on crutches, he’s walking around absolutely fine.

“You wouldn’t know he’s had surgery apart from the sleeve he’s got on his knee, so I’m really pleased with that. It’s going to be a six-weeker, which was the best possible case because it could have been a lot longer.”

Although this may be the best-case scenario, it will see Pack miss the upcoming clash against Southampton, in the first league meeting since 2012.

This will be one of at least five games that the versatile ace is likely to miss, with a potential return date likely to be late September.

Pack could miss the Southampton alongside four other potential fixtures.

With Pack having shared his excitement about captaining Pompey against Southampton, it will be that absence that hurts the most.

Pack’s Portsmouth injury record

It isn’t too unusual see that the 34-year-old has picked up such a long-term injury after an up and down stint since signing in PO4.

Back in February 2023, Pack suffered a similar injury and was ruled out for four to six weeks with Pompey after a meniscus issue was picked up in a scan.

The ex-Bristol City man has also suffered from various other issues, including hamstring and ankle ligament problems that have hampered him somewhat.

Pack will be hoping that this injury doesn’t leave him out for much longer than the initial six weeks quoted, but that is yet to be seen at this stage.
