How much Makenzie Kirk could cost Portsmouth as offer is made

Portsmouth are still on the hunt for attacking reinforcements before the transfer window closes.

John Mousinho has brought in numerous players who far this summer, with Portsmouth’s acquisition of Adrian Segecic no doubt being the highlight.

However, more additions are expected over the coming weeks, with Makenzie Kirk now linked with a switch to Fratton Park.

Therefore, Pompey News have looked into how much the striker could end up costing the South Coast club if the move becomes official.

Makenzie Kirk set to cost Portsmouth at least £1m

Portsmouth’s lack of strikers have forced Mousinho to remain active in the market.

Callum Lang’s recent poor performances for Portsmouth have only emphasised the need for a new attacker.

The Scottish Sun reported on 16 August that Portsmouth have entered the race for Kirk, with Peterborough having a £500,000 bid turned down for the St. Johnstone attacker.

While it is unknown how much the Under 21s Northern Ireland star will cost, it will evidently be over £500,000 based on this information.

On top of this, Portsmouth will have to pay a decent sum in wages to bring to striker south of the border.

According to Salary Sport on 17 August, Kirk is currently earning £922-a-week at St. Johnstone.

If the transfer does go through, the 21-year-old will likely earn a significant wage boost.

Therefore, if he were to sign on a £3,000-a-week for three years, the attacker would make £447,000 at Fratton Park.

That is also without including potential bonuses and clauses that could increase the cost even further

On top of this, with it already being established that it would take more than £500,000 for Pompey to sign Kirk, when including his wage package, Kirk is set to cost Portsmouth at least £1million.

Colby Bishop is earning the most at £10,000-a-week, with Callum Lang and Josh Murphy in second on £5,000-a-week.

How much Portsmouth’s attackers earnWages per week
Colby Bishop£10,000
Callum Lang£5,000
Josh Murphy£5,000
Harvey Blair £3,000
Paddy Lane£2,000
Thomas Waddingham£1,000

It is unknown how much Segecic makes as new signings are yet to be added to the list.

Therefore, if Kirk were to earn £3,000-a-week, he would be significantly lower than his counterparts.
