Manchester United and Amorim nearly break disappointing record once held at Portsmouth
Portsmouth are hoping to build towards reaching the Premier League in the years to come.
Pompey have had a lot of good and bad times since their relegation 15 years ago in their long climb back to the top-flight from League Two.
John Mousinho has done exceptionally well at Pompey to gain promotion to the Championship and keep them there despite running on a shoestring budget.
Should Portsmouth reach the top flight in the coming years, they will be happy that one unwanted Premier League record is close to being broken.

Man United’s Ruben Amorim reaches 15 losses at Old Trafford
Football is well and truly underway, with the Premier League and Championship now taking shape.
Portsmouth got off to a solid start to their campaign with a 1-0 win over Oxford United, which brought hope to Blues fans.
However, a disappointing showing in their 2-1 loss to Norwich has supporters thinking that they need to do more business in the coming weeks.
Either way, Pompey can’t expect a worse campaign than they endured during the 2009/10 season, where they finished bottom of the Premier League on 19 points.
Former manager Paul Hart was sacked in November 2009, and he held a dismal record of 15 defeats in his first 27 top-flight games.
| Team | Points |
| 18. Burnley | 30 |
| 19. Hull City | 30 |
| 20. Portsmouth | 19 |
His record had been the quickest that any manager had reached 15 losses, excluding newly promoted teams.
Manchester United and Ruben Amorim have nearly beaten that record after the Red Devils lost 1-0 to Arsenal in their Premier League opener.
The Portuguese boss has now lost 15 of his 28 Premier League games (W7 D6).
Portsmouth can build back up to the Premier League
Pompey have endured a difficult 15-year spell outside the top-flight.
They are now on the road to building back up the Premier League, but they can’t rush things by spending silly money on players and disrupting their transfer strategy.
It is no secret that Portsmouth have a limited budget, but with the smart and cheap recruitment of players like Mark Kosznovszky, the Blues can slowly work their way back into the top-flight.
There have been teams such as Sunderland in recent years, who haven’t splashed the cash and have stuck to their transfer plans and have made it to the top-flight.
The Blues are some way behind the Mackems, but in a few years, they could be in the same position.
