Adrian Segecic developments at Portsmouth pave way for Fratton Park transfer blueprint
Adrian Segecic has already made his mark at Portsmouth after just two games for the South Coast club.
Segecic joined Portsmouth from Sydney FC, and little was known about him prior to his move.
However, after just two Championship matches, the Australian has already started to make an impression at Fratton Park.
Given the winger’s impact for John Mousinho, signings of the same ilk could follow through the doors at Pompey.

This story includes exclusive comment from football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley.
Portsmouth feel vindicated with Segecic transfer already
Segecic made a starting point for Pompey against Oxford United by scoring on debut for the South Coasters.
The 21-year-old bagged again against Norwich City, but that goal perhaps covered up the problems facing Mousinho at Portsmouth.
Now, football finance expert Dan Plumley – speaking exclusively to Pompey News – has provided insight on the deal.
“There’s nothing better than winning away on the first game of the season and your new signing scoring is there?” he said.
“It does give you that boost, and it’s a hard summer in football at boardroom level, and down into the playing team, getting that squad ready and making all those decisions, so they’ll absolutely be flying at the minute in terms of how that’s gone.
- Segecic has bagged both of Pompey’s league goals this season
- He notched an assist in the Carabao Cup
- 21 goal contributions in Australia last season
“Portsmouth have operated really shrewdly and really smartly in recent years, they’re also realistic, so it’s a long season, the Championship’s a slog, they’ll judge it after 46 games, not one.
“But in terms of an initial boost and getting off to a good start, it’s exactly what you want, and if that does start to pay dividends over the course of the next few months, and he continues to go on and score goals and be a focal point of that team, then you look to say, okay, right, this strategy is one that we can look to exploit now in other ways, because this is working.
“Early days, but they’ll certainly feel vindicated in their approach, and getting off to a flyer in the opening games.”

How far can Segecic go at Fratton Park?
While it is very early days into the winger’s stint at Fratton Park, supporters have every right to be excited.
At 21, Segecic has almost 100 senior career appearances to his name already, with the majority of his career ahead of him.
In both his Pompey appearances, the Australian has shown he can be clinical while working incredibly hard for his team.
Of course, Segecic also has international aspirations and is eyeing a place in the Australia team for the 2026 World Cup.
While this is just the start, the forward has shown enough promise to believe he is the real deal.
