John Mousinho reveals West Brom confession amid penalty controversy vs Portsmouth
Portsmouth picked up a solid 1-1 draw at The Hawthorns against West Brom on Saturday.
It was a good point on the road against a side that will no doubt be aiming for promotion.
Multiple Portsmouth stars played well against West Brom, as they rose to 11th in the table.
However, there was concern about goal scorer Colby Bishop, who was forced off for Portsmouth with an injury.
On top of this, the match was not without its controversies, with the Baggies certain they should have had a penalty.

John Mousinho: West Brom stars admit Aune Heggebo had hold of Regan Poole’s shirt
With the match locked at 1-1, the Baggies had a massive penalty claim against Portsmouth with around 20 minutes to go.
Attacker Aune Heggebo was brought down in the box, with Ryan Mason adamant that Regan Poole had fouled the striker.
However, West Brom’s claims were waved away before the Baggies manager was given his marching orders for his protests.
- West Brom took the lead against Portsmouth thanks to a Michael Johnston stunner
- However, Bishop netted a equaliser early in the second half
- The Baggies thought they should have had a penalty, but the referee said no
Now, Mousinho has spoken out about the incident in his post-match interview, insisting that the West Brom players told him that Heggebo also had a hold of Poole’s shirt during the incident.
He told Sky Sports on 23 August: “I spoke to the referee’s assistant just after the penalty incident and he felt that Connor Ogilvie had won the ball.
“At the time, I thought we might have been slightly lucky to get away with that (Poole on Heggebo) one.
“I spoke to a couple of the West Brom players and they said Heggebo said he had full hold on Regan’s shirt as well.”
Portsmouth at the centre of more penalty controversy
In the 2-1 defeat to Norwich City last weekend, many Portsmouth fans felt they should have had a penalty after Connor Ogilvie fell down inside the box.
While the decision was perhaps not as controversial as the Baggies’ one, many did believe that it should have been given as a spot-kick.
Therefore, fans may argue that the two decisions have now evened themselves out, with Pompey getting off to a solid start to their campaign.
However, hopefully the tie against Preston next Saturday will have far less controversy.
