Josh Murphy shares four-word reaction as Portsmouth nick point vs West Brom
Portsmouth have had an encouraging start to their second season back in the Championship.
Pompey survived in the second tier last season, as their strong home form played a key role in their fight against the drop.
This season, however, it looks to have swung the opposite direction, as Portsmouth drew 1-1 at West Bromwich Albion to make it four points from six on the road so far.
John Mousinho’s side lost their first home game of the season 2-1 to Norwich City, but an improvement in their results away from Fratton Park has been encouraging.
Following the draw at the Hawthorns, Josh Murphy sent a message on social media.

Josh Murphy delighted with draw at West Brom
Pompey’s draw at the Baggies has largely been seen as a great result, given how strong West Brom have started the season.
Murphy was one of the best players on the pitch against West Brom, as he set up the equaliser for Bishop and caused mayhem for Darnell Furlong all game long.
Overall, the winger was instrumental in Portsmouth getting a great result, and he’s sent a message via his Instagram account.
On his story, Murphy posted a portion of a reel of Bishop’s goal from Pompey’s official account, with the caption “Point on the road” at the bottom.

Portsmouth need Colby Bishop and Josh Murphy to stay fit
A lot has been made of Pompey’s summer signings and the impact they need to make, most notably the signing of John Swift from West Brom.
However, if Portsmouth are to succeed this season, they need both Bishop and Murphy to stay fit.
Colby Bishop | Stats | Josh Murphy |
11 | Goals | 7 |
13.74 | Expected Goals | 4.90 |
3 | Assists | 14 |
1.70 | Expected Assists | 9.40 |
The duo’s contributions last season were the most significant factor in John Mousinho’s side staying in the Championship, and if one is missing, the team doesn’t play the same.
A worry for Pompey fans is seeing Bishop being taken off with a knock during the draw on Saturday, and they will be hoping it was only precautionary, given their reliance on him for goals.
