John Mousinho plays massive part in latest Portsmouth transfer, player delighted to join
John Mousinho looks to have played a massive role in getting Portsmouth’s latest signing over the line.
Josh Knight has finally made the move to Pompey after being previously linked with a move to the south coast club.
The centre-back makes the move from German outfit Hannover 96, as Knight becomes the seventh signing of the summer for Pompey.
After overseeing some positive results on the pitch so far this season, Mousinho has also been playing a crucial role when it comes to recruitment, with Knight admitting the manager played a big role in him committing his future to the Blues.

John Mousinho’s plans ‘attracted’ Josh Knight to Pompey
Mousinho’s men picked up a valuable point on the road against West Brom at The Hawthorns over the weekend in what was a chaotic game shrouded in controversy.
Portsmouth currently sit on four points after their first three Championship games, and Knight will be hoping to come in and contribute to the remaining 43 games of their campaign.
In an interview on Portsmouth’s official website, Knight revealed some of the reasons why he opted to sign for Pompey.
“This is a big and ambitious club that’s moving in the right direction – you’d be stupid to not want to be here,” he said.
“The style of play is one of the reasons that attracted me, and the gaffer showed me how I fit into his plans.”
- Knight has previous experience in the Championship from his stints at Wycombe and Peterborough
- Knight spent one season in Germany, making 23 appearances in 2. Bundesliga before returning to England
“There is also the fanbase here, and I know just how difficult it can be to come and play at Fratton Park,” Knight continued.
Conor Shaughnessy and Regan Poole have started all three games together in the Championship so far, so whether Knight will be able to come in and break this partnership up remains to be seen.

Josh Knight’s comments a breath of fresh air
Considering Isaac Hayden’s recent controversial comments, Knight’s desire to be at Pompey and honesty regarding the move is a breath of fresh air.
Hayden recently claimed that he felt that he was “lining up on the wrong team” when playing QPR last season, after previously having a spell at the West London club before his time with the Blues.
Pompey fans will be glad their new arrival evidently does not share this mentality as Portsmouth aim to push further up the table in their second season back in the Championship.
