Portsmouth fans all say the same thing after ill-timed announcement
John Mousinho’s side have experienced a solid start to the 2025/26 season, collecting four points in the Championship.
Portsmouth drew 1-1 against West Brom at The Hawthorns on Saturday, with Colby Bishop’s second-half goal proving enough to earn a point for the away side.
And off the pitch, Pompey have been active in the transfer market, bringing in seven new players to bolster Mousinho’s options.
Portsmouth signed Josh Knight from Hannover, and Yang Min-hyeok has also arrived from Tottenham on loan.
Matt Ritchie confirmed his departure from Portsmouth to join Reading on Thursday, in what was seen as a blow by some fans.

Portsmouth fans fume at new kit teaser
Despite their business, Portsmouth still appear light in some areas of the pitch in the days leading up to the transfer deadline.
Callum Lang will miss up to 12 weeks due to injury, after undergoing surgery on an issue with his hamstring.
Confirmation of the forward’s absence has left Portsmouth lacking depth on the wing, with Josh Murphy currently Mousinho’s only natural option on the left.
But with Monday’s deadline rapidly approaching, no incoming transfer appears to be close.
Instead, Portsmouth have released a teaser for the release of a new retro-style kit, drawing frustration from some fans.
One fan said the management of the club is “more concerned about what happens off the pitch than what happens on it”, and another said to “read the room”.
Portsmouth can surprise fans with shock announcement
A new kit release could provide Portsmouth with a chance to be very clever about the announcement fans really want to see.
Should Pompey have a transfer in the works, they could release the kit with the new signing wearing it, likely earning extra sales, as well as pleasing their fans.

A new winger should be at the top of the priority list for decision-makers at Fratton Park, with just days left of the transfer window.
If not, they risk leaving Mousinho light in attack, in a season in which Portsmouth will desperately need goals to avoid another relegation fight.
