Portsmouth could sanction three exits on deadline day as transfer rush begins

John Mousinho has overseen plenty of departures at Portsmouth this summer.

This is despite Pompey having a successful 2024/25 campaign, avoiding relegation with plenty of matches to spare.

Matt Ritchie’s departure from Portsmouth is perhaps the most controversial, with multiple fans against the decision.

However, Mousinho is not set to end the sales here, with the manager keen make more changes to the squad before the 7pm deadline on Monday.

Abdoulaye Kamara and Tom McIntyre expected to depart Portsmouth

Given Portsmouth’s rapid rise up the English pyramid, it is no surprise that players are slowly being left behind.

Now, according to The News on 1 September, Tom McIntyre could depart Fratton Park in the coming hours.

The defender joined Fratton Park in January 2024 and was part of the side that won the League One title.

However, McIntyre has been told he can leave Portsmouth this summer, and a deal could still be struck on deadline day.

On top of this, the article also claims that Abdoulaye Kamara could leave after becoming surplus to requirements.

The midfielder only moved to Pompey last season, but has struggled to get into the first team, making only six first-team appearances to date.

Saarbrucken were reportedly considering a move for Kamara earlier this week, and it remains to be seen if he goes to the German third-tier side.

Jordan Archer could also leave Pompey before the transfer window closes, with the situation being described as “fluid”.

However, if Mousinho were to let the goalkeeper go, a replacement would be needed.

Abdoulaye Kamara has been a rare John Mousinho transfer fail

Mousinho has been excellent in the transfer window for much of his time at Portsmouth.

The manager has found multiple bargains which has played a big part in the recent success at Pompey.

However, there is no doubt that Kamara is a failed transfer.

The midfielder has rarely played, and the fact that Mousinho is happy to see the 20-year-old leave despite his age says a lot.

Hopefully, a repeat will not happen this time next summer with a star signed during this window.
