What Portsmouth fans can expect on deadline day – ins, outs and done deals

Portsmouth fans could expect some activity on the final day of the summer transfer window.

John Mousinho has mentioned that he is still working to complete some deals, but supporters will mostly be hoping they don’t lose their star player Josh Murphy.

Murphy has been subject to late interest from Leicester City, although Mousinho has insisted he’s not for sale.

Below, Pompey News explores some of the other deals that could be completed on transfer deadline day.

Done Deals

Portsmouth looked noticeably short of midfielders at the start of the transfer window, but that has been addressed this summer.

Adrian Segecic, John Swift, Luke Le Roux and Mark Kosznovszky have been signed on permanent transfers, while Florian Bianchini and Yang Min-hyeok have arrived on season-long loans.

Josh Knight has also been bought from Hannover 96 to help add strength and experience to the defence.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth have sold a handful of fringe players, including Christian Saydee, Ryley Towler, and Paddy Lane, while Matt Ritchie’s contract was terminated.

Portsmouth are targeting another striker and a winger

Portsmouth’s squad still look short in attacking areas, but the club is expected to address that.

Makenzie Kirk is expected to sign from St Johnstone to challenge Colby Bishop and Thomas Waddingham up front.

Mousinho could also seek out a young winger from the Premier League to join on a loan deal, with Crystal Palace star Franco Umeh believed to be of interest.

Apart from these two, Portsmouth are keeping their cards very close to their chest when it comes to last-minute transfer targets.

Tom McIntyre and Abdoulaye Kamara expected to confirm Portsmouth exits

Mousinho has made it clear that there is no future at Portsmouth for Tom McIntyre or Abdoulaye Kamara.

In several interviews, Mousinho has insisted that the club is progressing on deals to get both players out of the door.

In an ideal world, there would be no other players sold on deadline day. That would mean Portsmouth resisting any late bids for Murphy or other important first-team stars.
