Marlon Pack and Portsmouth teammate spotted in training as footage emerges pre-Southampton

Portsmouth are looking to get players back to full fitness during the international break.

Callum Lang will miss at least eight weeks for Portsmouth after coming off injured in the 57th minute in their 2-1 defeat to Norwich.

Conor Shaughnessy and Regan Poole have been given a welcome reprieve from action, with the pair recovering from knocks over the summer.

Portsmouth fans have now been given a welcome update, with Marlon Pack showing signs he could be back to full fitness soon.

Portsmouth midfielder Pack underwent surgery over the summer and has missed Pompey’s opening four games.

The 34-year-old has been a key member of the squad at Fratton Park in the rise up to the Championship before also avoiding relegation.

John Mousinho confirmed in August that the midfielder had suffered a knee injury and would miss six weeks of action.

Pack now appears to be running ahead of schedule, as he was spotted doing some light training for the Blues in a video posted on Portsmouth’s official X account on Friday.

He is expected to return to full fitness for the game against Ipswich on 27 September, but it is unlikely that Mousinho will rush his captain back.

Harvey Blair could also return to action for Portsmouth soon, as he joined his teammates on the grass.

Injuries Blair has had:

The winger has been to see a specialist for a torn hamstring and isn’t expected to return to action until November.

Likes Pack, Blair seems ahead of schedule, but given the former Liverpool youngster’s vast injury record, he won’t risk throwing him straight back into the starting 11.

Portsmouth given huge boosts for Southampton fixture

Pompey’s next game is highly anticipated as they play their first league game against Southampton in 13 years.

The Blues have already started off their Championship campaign strongly, but with Joe Bursik joining Portsmouth and adding further depth there is more confidence going into the game against Southampton.

Blair and Pack’s progression has shown that everything is heading in the right direction for Mousinho, and their being back around the squad bodes well.

In contrast, Southampton have won just once in the Championship so far, and the Blues have a chance to land another blow against their promotion push.
