Southampton vs Portsmouth: Weather update, ticket information, travel details

Portsmouth face one of their biggest games of the season on Sunday as they prepare to take on Southampton in the South Coast derby.

The two sides have not met since 2019 in the Carabao Cup, with the Saints coming away with a 4-0 victory.

However, since then, the playing field has evened, with Portsmouth returning to the Championship, while Southampton have slumped back down into the second tier.

With Portsmouth already having a good start to their new campaign, there is a real hope that three points can be won by John Mousinho’s side.

Now, Pompey news has highlighted everything you need to know about the trip to St. Mary’s.

Rain possible for Southampton vs Portsmouth

Many fans will be hoping for another nice day in the UK for the South Coast derby.

According to the Met Office on 8 September, Sunday should see highs of 19 degrees, with it predicted to be cloudy with sunny spells.

However, the chance of precipitation also hits 40 per cent for the match, which means rain at kick-off is possible.

On top of this, the humidity is high, sitting at between 64 and 79 per cent during the game.

Portsmouth sold out for South Coast derby

It will come as little surprise to many that Portsmouth have sold out their 2,700 ticket allocation for the derby.

This comes after Southampton were slammed for their ticket prices for the South Coast derby, charging £40 for an adult.

In contrast, the Saints have also sold out all of their match tickets for the match.

Therefore, St. Mary’s should be packed out for the highly anticipated derby.
