Christian Burgess sends three-word message to Portsmouth fans ahead of Southampton showdown
Christian Burgess is no doubt a fan favourite at Portsmouth after his successful spell at Fratton Park between 2015-20.
The centre-back made over 200 appearances for Pompey, helping the South Coast club win both the League Two title and the EFL Trophy.
Upon leaving in 2020 for Union SG in Belgium, he was still well-liked at Portsmouth and won the Player of the Season award in his final year.
Now, despite reaching new heights in his career, Burgess still has Portsmouth on his mind in the Low Countries.
Christian Burgess sends encouraging Portsmouth message ahead of South Coast derby
On Sunday, Portsmouth face Southampton in the first South Coast derby since 2019.
Anticipation is high for the match, with John Mousinho aiming to become the first Pompey manager to win the derby since 2010.
Burgess was part of the squad that played in the last match between the two South Coast sides, with the Southampton coming away with a 4-0 victory in the Carabao Cup.

Now, the centre-back has offered some words of encouragement to the Pompey fanbase ahead of the upcoming match.
Taking to X on 14 September, the centre-back put “up the Blues,” with a blue love heart.

John Mousinho will need to take inspiration from past derbies to get a victory
If Mousinho is to pick up a victory, he will need to look at how Portsmouth have performed in their previous outings against Southampton
This goes for both the victories and defeats, including the 4-0 loss last time out.
If the manager is able to learn from the mistakes of previous managers, it will put Pompey in an excellent position to win the match.
Hopefully, come Sunday afternoon, both Mousinho, the fans and Burgess will be celebrating a famous victory.
