Fraser Forster and Australian star – Three goalkeepers Portsmouth could sign after crushing Nicolas Schmid news
Portsmouth suffered an early setback to their campaign on Sunday as Nicolas Schmid was forced off the field against Southampton.
Schmid has been excellent for Portsmouth so far this season, and has already won Pompey numerous points.
However, it was revealed on Wednesday that Schmid could be out for Portsmouth for 12 weeks.
While Ben Killip and Josef Bursik have been backed to step in if needed, if they prove to be inadequate or get another injury, Pompey could be forced to dip into the free agent market.
Therefore, Pompey News has highlighted three players below that John Mousinho may consider bringing in over the next few weeks.

Fraser Forster
Fraser Forster has been a regular keeper in the Premier League for years.
The goalkeeper has had spells at Southampton and Tottenham, with the 37-year-old being released by the latter in the summer.
At the North London club, the former England international often served as a backup, but still made 13 appearances in all competitions last season.
Given that Forster is still a free agent and is reaching the end of his career, the goalkeeper may be tempted to drop down a division to play football.
Tom Glover
Under Mousinho, Pompey have developed a habit of signing players from Australia.
In the summer, Portsmouth brought in Adrian Segecic, who has turned out to be an instant success, and they may look to repeat this trick with Tom Glover.
The keeper was released from Middlesbrough earlier this month as he searches for regular first-team football.
- Glover orginally came through Tottenham’s academy
- The goalkeeper was called up the Australian national team in 2023, but did not receive a cap
- Glover was released by Middlesbrough on 1 September
During his two-year spell at Boro, he made 29 appearances, keeping eight clean sheets.
Now, Pompey may be able to tempt Glover to the South Coast club on a short-term deal while Schmid is injured.
On top of this, the fact that multiple Australians already play for Portsmouth may tempt the goalkeeper even more.

Alfie Whiteman
Another player who has recently been released by Tottenham, Alfie Whiteman came through the North London club’s academy and remained as a backup for years.
Now, 26 years old, the keeper departed in the summer after helping Spurs win the Europa League.
While his game time at Tottenham was severely limited, he has previous experience at Degerfors IF in Sweden across two loan spells.
While the signing of Whiteman might not be the most inspiring, he could prove to be a good backup if an injury were to occur on Killip or Bursik.
