Portsmouth given Harvey Blair update as injury update emerges
An injury crisis is threatening to ruin Portsmouth’s bright start to the season, as the games begin to come thick and fast in the Championship.
Portsmouth were already without Josh Murphy, Callum Lang and Nicolas Schmid before the weekend started.
Since then, Conor Shaughnessy tore his hamstring in the 2-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday and John Mousinho has revealed that Thomas Waddingham and Yang Min-hyeok face spells on the sidelines.
Thankfully, they have received an encouraging update about the condition of younger winger Harvey Blair.

Harvey Blair likely to return to action for Portsmouth in coming weeks
This article includes exclusive comment from sports injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar.
Blair is still recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in the final game of last season against Hull City
The young winger ruptured his hamstring after a nasty challenge in that game back in May, but he has been spotted around the squad on matchdays in recent times.
It would be a great time for Blair to return considering Portsmouth’s other casualties, and sports injury Dr Rajpal Brar has predicted that Blair will return to action in the near future.
Speaking exclusively to Pompey News, he said: “Typically a grade IV hamstring full rupture comes with a return to play of 3-4 months so he should be back in team training here soon, especially if he was seen on grass two weeks ago.”

When will Harvey Blair return for Portsmouth?
Based on Dr Brar’s estimates, Portsmouth fans could see Blair return to action in October.
His return could prove to be perfect timing for a number of reasons.
- Portsmouth are missing injured wingers Yang and Callum Lang
- Florian Bianchini is struggling for form whenever he deputises
- Pompey have a tough run of fixtures coming up and need all hands on deck.
The 22-year-old has only made 12 appearances for Portsmouth since signing in August 2024, but he’s likely to see some first-team action if he can make his return soon.
Pompey’s next game is against Ipswich on 27 September, before facing off against Watford (H), Middlesbrough (H), Leicester (A) and Coventry (H) in October.
While Blair won’t be rushed back into action, his presence in the squad could definitely make a positive impact during these games.
