Michael Eisner to make ‘quick’ appointment with senior figure set to leave Portsmouth

Portsmouth have undergone plenty of changes under Michael Eisner in recent years.

His biggest and most successful has no doubt been the arrival of John Mousinho at Fratton Park, who guided Pompey back to the Championship last year.

However, Portsmouth have also made changes to their senior staff, with Mark Catlin stepping down as CEO in 2021.

Now, further changes are set to be made in the coming days at Fratton Park.

Dan Plumley: Portsmouth will want quick Tony Brown replacement

Tony Brown is set to leave Portsmouth at the end of the month after years at the South Coast club.

The chief operating officer came in in 2013 and was key to overseeing important changes financially after their crisis in the early 2010s.

Now, with his departure set to become official on 30 September, Dan Plumley has exclusively told Pompey News has he expects a quick appointment to replace Brown.

“It is one of those roles in football nowadays that is talked about as much as the manager or a big player coming in.

“Those kind of strategic boardroom appointments are really important, and there are a lot of good people working in that space.

“It’ll be a blow for Portsmouth for sure. If you look back over the last couple of years, it has been mostly positive, and staying in the Championship last season was a huge achievement for the club. Now, they are looking to repeat the trick.

“It is a role to fill, and they will want to fill that pretty quickly.

“From a continuity perspective, you want to get the next right person in, so it’s not an easy one, but there is plenty of good talent out there and the board have their heads screwed on as they look to get the right person in.

“Given the work over the past few years, and the work that person has been doing, it is going to be a tough role to fill.”

Portsmouth face difficult task to replace Tony Brown

Tony Brown’s contributions to Portsmouth have been fantastic during his time at the club.

There is a reason multiple Portsmouth fans wanted Brown to stay after the news was announced in the summer.

Now, Eisner will face a difficult task in replacing the COO who has been sensational for years.

Hopefully, whoever is brought in will also oversee further stability as Pompey aim for an eventual return to the Premier League.
