John Mousinho reveals ‘frank discussions’ behind the scenes at Portsmouth ahead of Ipswich showdown

Portsmouth are looking to bounce back this weekend against Ipswich Town.

Portsmouth were beaten at home by Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday, in a performance that really frustrated supporters.

John Mousinho’s side are currently 13th in the Championship table and have failed to score in the last two games against the Owls and local rivals Southampton, who they drew 0-0 with at St Mary’s

This Saturday, Portsmouth travel to Ipswich’s Portman Road in a 3pm kick-off to face an out-of-form Tractor Boys with only one win so far this season.

Pompey will look to maintain their unbeaten away streak so far this season, but will be up against it against Ipswich.

John Mousinho sees Ipswich ‘opportunity’ for Portsmouth

Mousinho has made Portsmouth extremely difficult to play against this season, but the results have so far been mixed.

Portsmouth were big favourites against lowly Wednesday, but were frustrated in attack, which resulted in a frustrating loss.

Mousinho has revealed that his side has reflected on Saturday’s defeat and are looking to move on at the weekend.

Speaking to the club’s website, he said: “We had a frank discussion about the last match because we were poor across the board and got it out of our system.”

Mousinho is now hoping to bounce back against Ipswich, believing his team has a good chance of picking up three points.

He added: “Every game is an opportunity and a chance to pick up three points – whether home or away – and it’s the same this weekend.”

A result at Portman Road would be massive for Pompey, with three points taking them back up in play-off contention.

Portsmouth have been brilliant away from home

Pompey’s away record this season has been one of the positives of the young campaign.

Draws against their great rivals, Southampton and promotion-chasing West Brom, as well as a win at Oxford, still see Portsmouth unbeaten.

Ipswich will be another tough test, but Pompey have proven they’re able to frustrate opponents on the road and will look to do the same.

Nicolas Schmid and Conor Shaughnessy’s absence is big for the defensive unit, but Mousinho will be confident his side can deliver again.
