Patrick Bamford and former Wolves ace – Three free agent strikers John Mousinho must consider signing
Portsmouth’s woes in front of goal have been a major issue so far this campaign.
Seven games into the Championship season, and Pompey have only netted five times, the joint-second lowest in the division.
Much of this is down to Portsmouth simply failing to take their chances, with statistics showing that they are creating opportunities.
Colby Bishop’s form at Portsmouth has been particularly poor as the South Coast club looks to end their losing streak.
With John Mousinho currently low on quality back-up attackers at Fratton Park, Pompey News has highlighted three strikers that the manager has to consider making a move for.

Kemar Roofe
Kemar Roofe is currently a free agent after Derby opted not to renew his contract in the summer.
The striker was lethal in the UK, helping Rangers win the Scottish Premiership in 2021, scoring 18 goals in all competitions.
On top of this, Roofe had successful spells at both Oxford United and Leeds, before his move to Ibrox.
While injuries have not been kind to the versatile forward in recent years, a pay-as-you-play contract could prove to be beneficial, especially if he gets his form back.
Benik Afobe
Benik Afobe was once another clinical striker in the Championship.
The attacker had spells at Wolves, Stoke, Bristol City and Millwall, with his time at the Old Gold club being his most memorable.
Afobe has also played in the Premier League, making 70 appearances for Bournemouth between 2016-18, where he netted 11 times in all competitions.
Now, after spending time playing in the UAE and Qatar, the former Democratic Republic of Congo international is a free agent.
Similar to Roofe, a pay-as-you-play contract on a short-term deal could prove to be a success at Fratton Park if he can return to fitness in form.

Patrick Bamford
The final player on this list needs no introduction.
Patrick Bamford was once one of the best strikers in the Premier League, with the Englishman having a highly successful spell at Leeds United.
However, after a tricky 2024/25 campaign, the attacker was released in the summer, with Bamford no longer in Daniel Farke’s plans at Leeds.
Bamford would be an excellent striker for Portsmouth, not only for his ability, but also for his experience.
Despite numerous links, the striker is yet to sign for a new club, and Mousinho must pounce before another side swoops in.
