Portsmouth welcome Watford to Fratton Park on Wednesday seeking a return to winning ways in the Championship.

Pompey were beaten 2-1 away to Ipswich on Saturday, with Marlon Pack picking up a consolation goal in the 92nd minute for the visitors.

John Mousinho’s side have struggled with injuries to key players such as Josh Murphy and Conor Shaughnessy, leaving them 17th in the table.

Portsmouth are heavy favourites at home to Watford

Mousinho’s side will want to get out of this slump that has seen them winless in their last three games, including a defeat to strugglers Sheffield Wednesday at Fratton Park.

It won’t be an easy three points for Pompey, with Watford’s confidence high after a 2-1 win at home to Hull last time out.

According to Opta’s supercomputer, Portsmouth have a 48.9 per cent chance of winning, with Watford the underdogs with 25.5 per cent.

Since their dip in form, it has been predicted that Portsmouth will finish 19th in the Championship with around 56.96 points, roughly three points more than what they accumulated last season.

Fratton Park is known as a tough away fixture for most, and fans will be hoping to make it a winning fortress after a slip against Sheffield Wednesday.

Pompey’s next opponents, Watford, were tipped to finish in the bottom three, alongside Oxford and Sheffield Wednesday, by the supercomputer.
