Portsmouth decision-makers questioned as bizarre transfer agreement struck – ‘What’s the point?’
Portsmouth are currently on a really poor run of form.
Portsmouth face Middlesbrough on Saturday, as they look for their first win since the end of August.
John Mousinho’s side were poor midweek against Watford, having to come from behind to rescue a point in front of their home fans.
Pompey’s supporters have been frustrated after the team failed to kick on from a decent start to the season.
Portsmouth fans have now taken to social media to voice their latest annoyance at the club’s hierarchy.

Portsmouth fans slam ‘waste’ of a transfer
Portsmouth announced on Friday that midfielder Reuben Swann has joined Havant and Waterlooville on a one-month loan deal.
Swann spent last season at the same side and returns to the local outfit for some more game time.
Pompey fans are annoyed at this announcement, taking to X to criticise the decision and questioning the reasoning behind it.
One said: “Honestly, what is the point he’s been loaned there before just to get no game time again? Send him somewhere for a long-term loan to develop himself.“
Another added: “Absolute waste of a loan.”
Others questioned why Portsmouth can’t develop youth prospects themselves: “What is the point in bringing any of the youngsters in if we have to rely on Havant or Gosport to develop them?”
Portsmouth will hope Swann can continue to develop on loan, but fans clearly feel like he should be at a higher level.
Reuben Swann deserves better from Portsmouth
Swann was always going to leave Portsmouth on loan again, but should have been at a higher level than Havant and Waterlooville.
The Hawks are a convenient outfit to use to loan out youth prospects, as they are local, and Pompey has a good relationship with them.
But Swann, who made 43 appearances in Southern League Premier South last season, deserved a move higher up the pyramid.
- Swann was signed from AFC Sudbury last summer
- He was brought on Portsmouth’s pre-season trip to Croatia, where he impressed
- He registered six assists for Havant and Waterlooville last season
Havant and Waterlooville compete in the seventh step of English football, and Pompey fans may have expected Swann to join a National League South or even National League side.
Portsmouth fans need to see a clearer direction for their youth players, or they will continue to get rightly frustrated at the club.
