Portsmouth returned to form on Saturday as they overcame Middlesbrough 1-0 thanks to an excellent performance.

A win was well overdue at Pompey, with the South Coast club previously going four matches without a victory before the result over Boro.

On top of this, there had also been plenty of positives going into the match, with a real feel-good factor now emerging.

Adrian Segecic reacts to Josh Murphy’s new contract

One of the biggest positives from the week came from Josh Murphy.

Despite the winger missing multiple matches with an ankle injury, the Fratton Park faithful had plenty to celebrate on Thursday.

It was announced that Murphy had signed a new deal at Portsmouth that will last until 2028, ending any exit speculation surrounding the former Oxford United star.

As a result, plenty of Portsmouth players reacted to Murphy’s new contract, including Adrian Segecic.

The Aussie commented on the winger’s Instagram post saying: “Congrats bro,” with a love heart and praised hands emojis.

Murphy labels Yang Min-hyeok ‘unreal’ after Middlesbrough winner

One player who has also had a sensational week is Yang Min-hyeok.

The Tottenham loanee had previously struggled at Portsmouth early on. However, he has sprung into life in October.

Yang netted against Watford on Wednesday in the 2-2 draw and followed this performance up with the winner against Middlesbrough on Saturday.

As a result, plenty of Pompey players were ecstatic with Yang, with Murphy taking to Instagram on 4 October to personally praise the youngster.

On his story, he posted: “Unreal from the Boys!!!,” and then tagged Yang, adding the heart eyes and clapping emojis.

Hopefully, Yang can continue his rich vein of form after the international break.

Sue Smith hails Yang’s opener vs Middlesbrough as ‘superb’

Yang’s goal against Middlesbrough was expertly taken.

The winger hooked onto a cross and slammed the ball into the net with a first-time finish.

However, Murphy wasn’t the only person who was impressed with Yang’s goal.

Talking on Sky Sports, Sue Smith was quick to praise Yang’s opener for Portsmouth.

She said: “The cross comes in from the left all the way through to the right, and Boro don’t deal with it.

“It’s a lovely first-time finish from Yang, who passes it in off the post. Superb finish.”
