Portsmouth in hunt for Barnsley right-back Jordan Williams amid Zak Swanson contract talks – report
Portsmouth are among the clubs interested in signing Barnsley right-back Jordan Williams this summer, according to The News.
Neil Allen’s article [13 June] details how John Mousinho’s side are tracking the defender who captained the Yorkshire club in League One last term, featuring at Fratton Park in the match which clinched Pompey’s promotion.
It is understood a number of clubs including Cardiff City are monitoring Williams’ situation as the Blues seek to strengthen in the summer window, opening this Friday.
Portsmouth want to sign Jordan Williams
Portsmouth find themselves in a precarious current position with regards to right-backs, having let Joe Rafferty depart and since join Sean Raggett at Rotherham.
Zak Swanson is also out of contract, with the club having decided against triggering an extension but looking for a way to settle on fresh terms with the former Arsenal man.
Williams has turned out over 150 times in the league for Barnsley having arrived at Oakwell from across Yorkshire at Huddersfield Town in 2018.

Providing the leadership, reliability and robustness that could slot nicely into the Pompey defence, the 24-year-old also carries vital Championship experience which is so far lacking in the squad at Fratton Park.
Williams himself is likely to fancy another crack at the second tier in front of a buoyant fanbase in a club which is heading in the right direction following considerable investment from the Eisners, and could well fit the bill for Portsmouth to strike.
