Portsmouth urged to do business early ahead of Championship kick off after transfer update
Dan Bardell has urged Portsmouth to sign players early this summer to build a squad ready for the Championship after League One promotion.
John Mousinho’s side was promoted with ease last campaign but he will still be eager to improve his squad with some additions.
The News has reported (14 June) that Pompey are “closing in” on some early transfer dealings with “a couple of deals” now close.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes this will give them the best chance of having a positive season in the second tier.
Speaking exclusively to Pompey News, Bardell said: “It’ll be great to see Portsmouth back in the Championship.
“We saw with Ipswich Town last season that League One can do well after promotion. I don’t expect them as well as that but if they can capitalise on the momentum and feel good that will be positive.
“Getting players in early so they can have a full pre-season is important at any club but especially at Portsmouth to build on the feel-good factor and continue their form into the Championship.“
Portsmouth urged to do early transfer business
Pompey are back in the Championship and the fans have so much to be excited about ahead of the new season.
It will certainly be interesting to see which stars will be able to step up with ease and take to a higher division positively.
The likes of Colby Bishop and Paddy Lane will be looking to replicate their goalscoring exploits from League One but it will be tough.

Mousinho will need to make a host of additions regardless of how much hope and belief he has in his squad given the jump in quality.
With teams like Leeds United, Burnley and Luton Town in the division, there will be no easy games for Pompey next campaign.
There will be a fresh look to the squad at Fratton Park next season in an exciting year for the club.
