Don Goodman: Kusini Yengi injury news a blow for Portsmouth

Don Goodman is concerned about how Portsmouth will cope without Kusini Yengi after it was revealed the striker faces a significant spell on the sideline.

After it was shared by BBC Radio Solent’s Andy Moon on 4 December that the Australian striker would be sidelined for up to 10 weeks, questions emerged as to how Pompey could cope without Yengi.

The return of Colby Bishop after a heart scare in the summer has been a welcomed one, but Goodman exclusively told Pompey News that Yengi’s absence will be felt.

“Look, he’s a handful I like him,” Goodman said. “When you lose any forward, it doesn’t matter who, it takes away an option for you as a head coach or as a manager and that’s really not a good thing.

“Losing Yengi is a blow – there’s no doubt about that.”

Portsmouth need to adapt in Kusini Yengi’s absence

Pompey still have options in the Australian’s absence and the form of Bishop since returning perhaps softens the blow somewhat.

Bishop registered a goal and an assist in Pompey’s hammering of Bristol City and will prove to be a crucial figure over the festive period.
