Derby County fans warned as new Portsmouth announcement made

Derby County fans have been sent a warning ahead of their fixture against Portsmouth in the Championship.

Derby and Portsmouth are both fighting the potential threat of relegation from the division this season, and that means that every fixture has genuine importance, with everyone involved playing their part in the effort to survive.

That includes the supporters of both teams, who will be called upon to provide a tricky atmosphere for their opponents, while getting behind their own squads.

It isn’t an easy task when teams are near the bottom of the league, but that will be particularly important on Saturday (12 April) when Derby and Portsmouth meet at Fratton Park.

Derby fans are backing their team

Unfortunately for many Derby fans, they will not be able to make the trip to the South coast as the Rams have now confirmed they have sold out their allocation for the day.

Obviously, this is a positive situation for the team as they’re guaranteed to have a full away stand to cheer for them, but it means that anyone who has missed out at this point will not be able to see the game inside the stadium.

Derby fans have been advised not to travel to Portsmouth if they don’t have a ticket as they will be unable to gain access to Fratton Park on the day.

Derby were handed an allocation of 2,171 tickets by the Blues, and with that being sold out, there promises to be an electric atmosphere.

A statement on Derby’s website on Monday (7 April) read: “Derby County’s allocation of tickets for their 2024/25 Sky Bet Championship fixture at Portsmouth have sold out.

“Those fans without a ticket are advised not to make the trip to Portsmouth, as they will be unable to gain access to the stadium.”

Portsmouth v Derby is going to be a huge match

Supporters of both teams will be looking to attend this match, considering what a massive impact it has the potential to have on both of their futures.

It’s a classic case of a ‘six-pointer’ as neither team can afford to lose it, yet at the same time, a draw doesn’t benefit either.

As it stands, both Derby and Portsmouth are set to avoid relegation, but the Rams are only outside of the bottom three via goal difference.

Pompey are in a slightly stronger position with a four-point gap between them and the relegation zone, but there is very little room for error, placing pressure on John Mousinho’s team every time they cross the white line.
