Portsmouth love Nicolas Schmid images on international duty – ‘what a sight’
Portsmouth already have a host of players out on international duty ahead of a pivotal season at Fratton Park.
John Mousinho’s side are stepping up their preparations for pre-season as the summer transfer window gathers pace in the Championship.
After a successful season, during which he kept the squad in the Championship, the head coach has been linked with a move away.
Meanwhile, several of Portsmouth’s top players have earned the reward of international call-ups, including Nicolas Schmid.

Schmid joins national team squad as form rewarded
Schmid has received his first-ever call-up to the Austria senior national team after an impressive season at Pompey.
The goalkeeper previously represented Austria at U18 and U19 levels but had never been called up to the senior squad before.
Images released by Portsmouth’s official X account (6 June) saw the goalkeeper in training, with the caption: “What a sight.”
The 28-year-old was signed by Portsmouth last season from Austrian side Blau-Weiss Linz and quickly became a fan favourite at Fratton Park.
He made 35 Championship appearances, keeping eight clean sheets throughout the season.
Fratton Park gears up for a pivotal campaign ahead
Portsmouth announced that 14,000 season tickets have been sold ahead of next season’s Championship campaign, which are sensational numbers again.
The fans will play a crucial role in what promises to be an important season next year, keeping Fratton Park buzzing for every team that comes to visit.
The Blues also confirmed that the annual pitch renovation, led by Andy Cullen, is well underway, with a potential upgrade planned.
However, the South Coast side faces challenges ahead. Operating with one of the smallest budgets in the league, it is preparing for tougher competition with the arrivals of Wrexham and Birmingham City.
This won’t stop Pompey from being active in the transfer market, with rumours circulating about potential signings, as bargains such as Schmid potentially become available.
Jamal Lowe has been mentioned at Portsmouth after two years at the Fratton club from 2017 to 2019, as they consider the versatile forward as a potential signing.
It will be a pivotal season for Pompey, and the transfer market offers the best opportunity to strengthen the squad by adding depth and quality.
