Segecic shares ‘unbelievable’ John Mousinho reveal after Portsmouth transfer
Adrian Segecic remains the only new signing for Portsmouth so far this summer.
The forward added to the Australian contingent on the south coast for John Mousinho after spending eight years in Sydney.
Segecic was on fire in the Australian A-League, scoring 18 goals for Sydney FC in his final season as he attracted interest from multiple clubs.
Portsmouth’s first signing of the summer has now revealed what it was about Portsmouth that appealed to him.

Segecic reveals Mousinho drew him towards Pompey
Portsmouth still have plenty of work to do this summer, having lost seven players from last season’s squad.
The Blues are again looking at the loan and free agent market this summer and have most recently been linked with former West Brom winger Grady Diangana.
Mousinho’s trust in players and reliance on such a thin squad have made Pompey an attractive prospect for players.
Speaking on BBC Sounds, Segecic revealed why he joined the Blues.
“There were a lot of options there, I had a good season and a lot of clubs I talked to, but it was just something about Pompey that drew me towards them,” he said.
“Everyone I spoke to had good things to say about the club and the people here.
“It’s every kid’s dream. Coming from Australia, the most difficult thing is to make that move to Europe and do well and stay here.
“John is unbelievable, the thing that caught me was how you want to fight for a manager and die for him, and I thought that’s the manager who’s going to get the best out of me.”

Segecic could play huge part next season for Portsmouth
Segecic’s role next season remains to be seen, with plenty of attacking options in the final third.
Colby Bishop and Josh Murphy were sensational last season in the Championship, so they will be two of the first names on the teamsheet, and possibly even competition for him.
Player | Age |
Thomas Waddingham | 20 |
Hayden Matthews | 21 |
Adrian Segecic | 21 |
Jacob Farrell | 22 |
It has taken some of Pompey’s Aussies time to settle in on the south coast, but the 20-year-old could have an immediate impact in England.
Segecic is surrounded by players from his home country who will help him bed in and has already spent some time in the Netherlands as a youngster.
Pompey must now bring in more attacking reinforcements to help get the best out of Segecic.
