Portsmouth target Abu Kamara’s ‘preferred destination revealed’ amid Hull troubles

Portsmouth’s pursuit of Abu Kamara is quickly becoming known as the transfer rumour that won’t go away.

Ever since Kamara’s loan spell at Fratton Park finished in summer 2024, he has been linked with a return.

These rumours most recently resurfaced after Hull’s serious financial problems led to them being issued with a transfer embargo.

That led to suggestions that Pompey could sign Kamara at a discounted price.

Now, Kamara’s preferred destination for next season has been revealed by a source close to the player.

Kamara believed to be happy at Hull City

Kamara hasn’t spoken out about the situation at Hull since they were slapped with a transfer embargo.

However, local publication Hull Live (11 July) have suggested that he is believed to be happy at the club and has offered no hints that he wants to leave.

That would suggest that the smart money is on the winger remaining with the Tigers next season.

With that said, it was also stated that Hull haven’t made a decision on Kamara’s future. The club is in desperate need of financial stimulus, so if a significant bid came in, it could be difficult to turn down.

And if a player is told to leave a club, that’s generally what happens, no matter how ‘happy’ he is.

Rangers and Portsmouth are the two clubs most interested in signing him.

Kamara rumours likely to continue until he makes a move

Portsmouth are pushing Matt Ritchie out the exit door, further fueling rumours that a move for Kamara could be possible. They’ll need a new right winger if Ritchie does leave.

In all honesty, no news article is likely to quieten the fans on social media who are desperate to see him return.

Kamara was instrumental in helping Portsmouth get promoted to the Championship, and it was seen as a major blow when he decided to sign for Hull instead of Pompey last summer.

In hindsight, that move looks to have been an error in judgment. Hull were one point away from relegation last season, and they’ll be among the favourites to go down this time around.

Even if nothing happens this summer, you can expect these rumours to return in January, especially if Hull are struggling at the bottom of the table.
