Who is Mark Kosznovszky? Midfielder that lit up Hungary ready to join Portsmouth
Portsmouth fans have been left intrigued and excited by the potential arrival of unknown Hungarian midfielder Mark Kosznovsky.
The Hungarian star has impressed in his home country for MTK Budapest and looks extremely likely to become Portsmouth’s third signing of the summer.
Kosznovszky attracted interest from fellow Championship clubs Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield United, with many supporters wondering what he will be like when he steps onto the pitch.

Kosznovszky to blow the Championship away after impressing in Hungary
With pre-season now underway, Kosznovszky is set to finally show Pompey fans what he can do on the pitch, as he jets in for his medical at Fratton Park.
It will be interesting to see how the Hungarian will slot into John Mousinho‘s side, given that John Swift is likely to feature as a new midfield signing, too.
Last season, Kosznovszky picked up eight goal contributions in 30 matches, and it is expected that he could play a deeper role for the Blues.
Games | Assists | Key passes | Big chances created | Succesful dribbles |
25 | 3 | 31 | 2 | 33 |
The 23-year-old can play as a six, eight, or 10 but has primarily featured as a box-to-box midfielder.
From his experience in his homeland, Kosznovszky wants to be involved and help keep the ball moving and keep play ticking.
He made 985 accurate passes last season with 84.5 per cent success in total, which makes him the perfect candidate for Mousinho’s possession-based midfield.
The former Parma youngster also offers a potential goal threat with an eye for a shot from distance and has been consistently praised for his impact in Hungary.
His move to Fratton Park makes captain Malon Pack’s future uncertain, with the midfielder likely to make way for Kosznovszky.

Kosznovszky will need time to bed in at Portsmouth
With just a few weeks until the start of the Championship season, Kosznovszky isn’t expected to be thrust straight into Mousinho’s side.
Much like Pompey’s Aussie contingent, Mousinho will take care of the young Hungarian and will decide when the time is right for him to make his debut.
Kosznovszky still has certain weaknesses in his game that he will have to put right as he adapts to the intensity of the Championship.
Despite that, this could be yet another unknown gem arriving on the south coast.
