Portsmouth may be ‘mystery bidders’ to sign Abdoulie Manneh as agent says transfer done

Portsmouth have had an impressive start to the Championship season with only one defeat so far.

John Mousinho made over ten signings in what proved to be a busy summer transfer window at Fratton Park, despite a slow start.

Academy graduate Conor Chaplin returned to Pompey on deadline day and is expected to start as Portsmouth take on Southampton on Sunday.

Chaplin came in on loan from Ipswich, as did South Korean winger Yang Min-Hyeok, who arrived temporarily from Tottenham.

If Portsmouth do want to compete in the Championship this season, more signings may need to be brought in over the January window to help get them further up the table.

Could a deal be in the works for Abdoulie Manneh already?

Abdoulie Manneh arrival possibly leaked at Portsmouth

Australian winger Adrian Segecic has had a remarkable start to his Portsmouth career, as he signed from Sydney FC in June.

Another winger might be needed as Josh Murphy has been closely linked to a move to Leicester City.

Manneh is currently contracted to Swedish side Mjällby, and could be the answer.

The Sun’s Alan Nixon has reported via Patreon that Manneh has apparently signed a pre-contract agreement to join a Championship side this January, so his agent says.

He added that Pompey “may be the mystery bidders”, after previous links to Portsmouth during the summer.

The Gambian winger had a deal to sign for Olympiacos fall through in August, meaning his future remains in the air ahead of January.

It would be a challenge to see him start with the form Segecic is in, as Murphy also proved last season how vital he is to this team.

Abdoulie Manneh can provide depth to Portsmouth attack

Manneh has a combined 10 goals and assists across 22 league matches in 2025. His numbers for a player so young show he still has loads of potential.

Mousinho has shown he is not afraid to give opportunities to young players.

Portsmouth’s attacking output has looked good across their first four Championship matches, despite Murphy having yet to score in the league.

With a busy Championship schedule, adding more depth can never be seen as an issue, and Manneh could kickstart another busy window in January.
