Portsmouth vs Sheffield Wednesday preview: Team news, likely lineups, score prediction
Portsmouth are set to take on Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday in their first match back at Fratton Park since the international break.
Pompey come into the match on great form, with Portsmouth’s 0-0 draw against Southampton sending them ninth in the table.
In contrast, Sheffield Wednesday are in a dire state. So far this campaign, they are yet to win a match in the Championship, losing four of their five matches.
Going into the match, many Sheffield Wednesday fans were planning on boycotting the match at Fratton Park in protest of their owner, Dejphon Chansiri.
Now, Pompey News has highlighted everything you need to know about the impending game.

Team news
For Portsmouth, Nicolas Schmid is definitely out after the goalkeeper’s clash against Southampton.
Connor Ogilvie is reportedly 50/50 for the game after a knock against the Saints, while Thomas Waddingham is sidelined for the match.
On top of this, Callum Lang and Harvey Blair are definitely out for the Owls match.
- Schmid is expected to be out for Portsmouth for 8-12 weeks
- Ogilvie could be fit for the Sheffield Wednesday match
- Sheffield Wednesday are expected to have seven absentees
In comparison, Sheffield Wednesday have a hefty injury list heading into the tie.
Both Olaf Kobacki and Reece Johnson are ruled out of the Portsmouth match after being forced off in their 1-0 defeat to Grimsby.
As well as the duo, Pierce Charles, Di’Shon Bernard, Nathaniel Chalobah, Gui Siqueira and Bruno Fernandes are all unavailable for selection due to injuries.

Predicted lineups
Portsmouth: Killip, Williams, Shaughnessy, Poole, Swansan, Swift, Dozzell, Segecic, Chaplin, Murphy, Kirk
Sheffield Wednesday: Horvath, Iorfa, Otegbayo, Lowe, Valery, Palmer, Bannan, Ingelsson, Amass, Ugbo, McNeill

Prediction: Portsmouth 3-0 Sheffield Wednesday
While this may appear to be a bit of a bold prediction, given that Portsmouth rarely score more than one goal a game, there is no reason why they cannot achieve a big victory against the Owls.
The contrasting form of the two sides going into the match is apparent, with Portsmouth the overwhelming favourites at Fratton Park.
Mousinho’s side created plenty of chances against Southampton on Sunday but were unable to find that clinical finish.
Given the Owls’ current situation, if these chances are taken on Saturday, it could easily be a 3-0 victory for Pompey.
