Watch brilliant scenes as Portsmouth join Sheffield Wednesday fans’ protest at Fratton Park
Portsmouth’s defeat to Sheffield Wednesday had few positives as the visitors ran out 2-0 winners at Fratton Park on Saturday.
Many of Portsmouth’s squad were awful against the Owls, in a game they were expected to win.
While Sheffield Wednesday’s second was controversial, the final result was nothing more than they deserved.
However, one part that did stand out for Pompey came off the pitch as they joined in with the visitors’ protest against their owner.

Portsmouth fans join Sheffield Wednesday fans protest
While Sheffield Wednesday may have picked up a victory at Fratton Park, off the pitch, they are a complete mess.
Their owner, Dejphon Chansiri, has become a controversial figure, with the Owls put under a new embargo this week.
Going into the game, many Sheffield Wednesday fans considered boycotting the Portsmouth match.
- Chansiri has become a controversial figure at Sheffield Wednesday
- The owner has overseen a massive decline at the Owls over the summer
- As a result, Sheffield Wednesday have been protesting against Chansiri throughout the season
However, many turned up and made a protest at the match, with many Portsmouth fans happily joining in.
Taking place in the 10th minute, BBC reporter Rob Staton caught the scenes on video and posted them on X on 20 September.
He stated that many Portsmouth fans applauded the protest, with Barry Bannan netting the opener mere minutes later.

Portsmouth’s defeat to Sheffield Wednesday is a wake-up call
While Portsmouth had been excellent for the majority of their campaign, their defeat to Wednesday is definitely a wake-up call.
If Pompey want to reach the next level, their quality in depth is a massive concern.
While Josh Murphy and Callum Lang’s injuries for Portsmouth are unfortunate, Mousinho would have still expected his side to create and score against the Owls.
Yet, the fact this didn’t happen is alarming and should have given instant warning signs to the manager.
This issue now needs to be quickly fixed, before long-term injuries or suspensions have Pompey looking over their shoulders once more.
