Arsenal ‘make transfer decision’ on winger wanted by Portsmouth

Arsenal have decided that academy winger Ismeal Kabia will be staying put despite loan interest from Portsmouth, according to Isaan Khan.

The Daily Mail reporter shared via X (3 February) that Arsenal were initially looking to loan the winger out but have changed their mind and are choosing to keep him at the club.

Portsmouth were a side credited with interest in the 19-year-old as they look to try and save themselves from relegation from the Championship.

Portsmouth won’t be getting Ismeal Kabia

Although Pompey currently sit a point above the relegation zone in the Championship, there is plenty of football to be played and with it tight at the bottom of the table, this will no doubt be a race against relegation that goes to the wire this term.

With this in mind, it’s no surprise that John Mousinho is keen to get as many reinforcement in his side as possible, in the hope of boosting Portsmouth’s chances of staying up this season.

At 19-years-old, this would have been the youngster’s first experience of proper first-team football, which surely would have been a good opportunity for him to develop his own game as he looks towards his future.

Furthermore, Pompey may have benefited from gaining the services of someone who has been around the first-team set-up at a successful top-flight club.

That being said, Mousinho may do better looking at players who have the experience already under their belt required to fight against the bleak fight at the bottom end of the second tier.

Either way, with the transfer deadline edging ever closer, it is imperative that the South Coast club turn their attentions elsewhere.
