Portsmouth delete Colby Bishop interview after expletive squad admission

Portsmouth are currently in Slovakia for their pre-season camp, with plenty of coverage being shown for fans back home.

Colby Bishop has been a vital part in Pompey’s success over recent seasons, from their promotion from League One to survival in their first season back in the Championship.

The forward has netted 52 league goals since arriving at Fratton Park in 2022, cementing himself as a fan favourite with the Portsmouth faithful.

Bishop’s latest comments, however, have forced one interview to be deleted, although many have already seen the funny side.

Bishop in expletive Portsmouth interview

John Mousinho is gearing up for his second season in the Championship, with players like Ryley Towler allowed to leave the South Coast as the defender joins Lincoln City.

Bishop will again be an important cog in Mousinho’s system, as the striker stepped up to second-tier football impressively, scoring 11 goals and providing three assists.

In an interview with the Blues out in Slovakia, Bishop was asked who the worst player to share a room with is.

“It’s a tough one, I don’t really want to offend anyone, no, we’ve not really had any **** this year,” he said, with the video since being deleted.

Portsmouth must recruit good characters as well as players

With the Blues being linked to more players who could join Adrian Segecic through the door at Fratton Park, Bishop’s comments may be something to consider.

Recruiting players with good character who positively contribute to the rest of the squad is arguably as important as what they can do on the pitch.

With Pelle Mattsson and Grady Diangana being linked with moves to Pompey, Mousinho must weigh up whether he thinks these transfer targets will be positive influences off the pitch for the rest of his squad.

Having a united squad will be crucial if Mousinho wants to drag Portsmouth to a higher league position next season.
